Welcome back to Big Dill Sports! I’m your host, Dillon, and today, we’ve got a juicy play-by-play analysis for all you sports lovers out there. We’re diving deep into the Kansas City Royals game that went down this past Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The New York Yankees were in town, and oh boy, did they bring their A-game!

The final score? Yankees 10, Royals 2. The Yankees started strong and just didn’t look back. Aaron Judge kicked things off with fireworks, smashing a two-run homer in the top of the first inning. This wasn’t just any home run, folks. With an exit velocity of 117.9 mph and covering a jaw-dropping 469 feet, it landed right on the roof of the Royals Hall of Fame. Impressive, right? That was Judge’s 7th-longest career homer and the longest hit at Kauffman Stadium this year. Talk about setting the tone!

But the Royals weren’t going to roll over that easily. In the bottom of the second inning, we saw some sparks in the form of an RBI groundout from top prospect Jac Caglianone, making it 2-1. It was his home debut, and you could just feel the excitement in the air.

Zooming forward to the 4th inning, the Yankees’ Austin Wells decided he wanted a piece of the action with a three-run homer. Boom! It extended the Yankees' lead to 5-1. Then, in the 6th inning, the Yankees pulled out all the stops, adding five more runs and really securing their lead. Wells was on fire with a two-run double, followed by clutch plays from Trent Grisham, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger, who marked his 1,000th career hit with an RBI single. That made the score an intimidating 10-1.

But wait, Royals fans, there was still a hint of silver lining. Jonathan India sent a solo shot over the fence in the bottom of the 6th, bringing the score to 10-2. And let’s not forget Tyler Tolbert, who logged his first MLB hit, and what a moment that was for him and the team.

On the mound, the Yankees’ Max Fried was in command, pitching 7 solid innings, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits and securing the win with 4 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Royals’ starter Noah Cameron had a bit of a rough outing, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits over 5 2/3 innings, but hey, we’ve all seen just how unpredictable the game can be!

Let’s shine the spotlight on some Royals players who stood out. Jac Caglianone, besides his RBI groundout, notched his first hit at Kauffman Stadium, and Jonathan India's homer gave fans a moment of joy. Oh, and Salvador Perez? The guy was a hitting machine, going 2-for-4.

However, my pick for today’s ‘Big Dill’ has to be Jac Caglianone. Seeing a young prospect make his mark in such a significant way, bringing hope to Royals fans with his performance—it’s what makes baseball special. Plus, his ability to rise to the occasion during his home debut really impressed me.

In some news off the field, Tyler Tolbert was called up from Triple-A Omaha just in time for this game, adding some fresh energy to the team. Sadly, Michael Massey has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left ankle sprain. Wishing him a speedy recovery!

And that’s a wrap for today's episode of Big Dill Sports. Thanks for tuning in as we revel in the highs and lows of the game we love. Keep swinging for the fences, and I’ll catch you at the next game breakdown. Until then, stay sporty!
