What a whirlwind few weeks it’s been for the Royals! On May 2nd, they faced the Baltimore Orioles and, let's just say, it was a tough day at the ballpark. The Royals were shut out, losing 3-0. Dean Kremer from the Orioles delivered a spectacular performance. He pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and a single walk. The pivotal moment unfolded in the seventh when Ryan O'Hearn blasted a two-run homer, taking the game decisively beyond the Royals' reach. A strong showing from Michael Wacha could not quite stave off the Orioles' momentum as he allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings.

Let's back up a bit to look at how the past games unfolded for the Royals. Earlier in April, they had a challenging stretch against the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees, managing minimal wins. Their visit to Cleveland included decisive losses with a particular struggle on April 11th when they couldn't get on the board, losing 7-0. The New York series added to their woes, with close yet unsuccessful contests. The tightest was a 4-3 loss on April 16th.

Against the Detroit Tigers, the Royals saw mixed results but capped off the series with a narrow 4-3 victory on April 20th. This win seemed to spark a bit of momentum. Facing off against the Colorado Rockies back at home, the Royals secured a couple of wins, including a solid 6-2 victory on April 24th.

Perhaps the highlight was their series against the Astros at Kauffman Stadium, with back-to-back 2-0 shutouts on April 25th and 26th. However, in the final game of this series, they couldn’t hold off the Astros, falling 7-3. But undeterred, they took their battling spirit to Tampa Bay, where they won all three games against the Rays, culminating in a commanding 8-2 victory on May 1st.

This time, it’s Ryan O'Hearn, not just for his winning homer against the Royals on May 2nd, but also for adding consistent steam to the Orioles' lineup, helping seal their victories.
